GI Adams has handled custom home building on Prince Edward Island since 1973, and O'Leary is about as close to home for us as a town gets. Of all the western communities we serve, it is the nearest to our shop in Elmsdale, a short and familiar drive. O'Leary sits in the heart of Island potato country, surrounded by farmland, and it is home to the Canadian Potato Museum. For us it is everyday territory, and we know the land and the people well. Being this close means we can be on a site quickly and stay close to a build from the first day to the last, which is part of why families out here keep calling us back.
Out here most builds are on rural acreage: big, open sites with room to breathe. That kind of lot is its own kind of project, and it pays to plan it properly from the start. A rural home needs its own well and septic system, and we look carefully at drainage, access, the lay of the ground, and where the house should sit to catch the light and the view. The upside is space, for the home itself, and for the garage, shop or outbuildings that come with country living. We plan all of it together, the home and everything around it, so the whole property works as one rather than a house with things added on later.

A rural home needs its own water and its own septic system rather than a municipal hookup. We plan both as part of the build, siting them properly and coordinating the work. It is routine for us on acreage, and we sort the details early so nothing slows the project down.
We can, and on a rural property it is worth planning from the start. A bigger lot has room for a garage, a workshop or storage, and we design the home and the outbuildings together so the whole property works rather than adding things on later.
O'Leary is one of the closest towns to our shop in Elmsdale, right in our own corner of the Island. That short drive makes it easy for us to come walk the land, get going early, and stay close to the build the whole way through.
