Kind Words

Trusted by generations of PEI families.

"Charles and the team at GI Adams were excellent to work with. They provided great contacts to help us get our property built in a frictionless process, and the workmanship was top notch. Additionally, any issues we had were taken care of to ensure a quality finished product. Overall communication was maintained through the whole project and the team of contractors were pleasant to work with. Thanks GI Adams for building our home!"

C Cris B.Google G

"Had a great experience with G I Adams and our house turned out amazing. We thought building a house 1600 km away would have many challenges but with good communication with Charles and staff it was a non issue. Charles looked after the red tape involved with government agencies to get building permit. All we had to do is sign the building permit."

L Lewis G.Google G

"Honest, on schedule, and the workmanship is second to none. They treated our renovation budget like it was their own money. Couldn't recommend them more."

Custom Homes in Tyne Valley

Building a home in Tyne Valley, PEI.

GI Adams has been handling custom home building across Prince Edward Island since 1973, and Tyne Valley sits right in our own corner of the Island, a short drive from our shop in Elmsdale. It is a small rural village near Malpeque Bay, oyster country, and the families who settle here tend to want a home that fits the quiet, the open land and the water close by. We know the roads, the soil and the way the seasons move through this part of the west, and we are glad to come out and walk a property with you.

Most of what we build around Tyne Valley sits on rural or waterside lots, so the early work matters. On country acreage that usually means a well and a septic system, and we help you sort drilling, the drainage field and the building envelope before anything is poured. Closer to the bay, siting is its own conversation. We look at how the wind comes off the water, where the sun tracks across the day, and how to place and shelter the house so it is comfortable to live in and built to stand up to coastal weather and salt air over the long run.

The homes that suit this community are practical and warm: bungalows, storey-and-a-half farmhouses, family homes with a real mudroom for boots and gear and a workshop or garage with room to spare. We build for Island winters, which means proper insulation, framing and roofs sized for our snow load, and durable exteriors chosen to weather years of freeze and thaw. The finishes are yours to decide. The structure underneath is where fifty years of building on red soil and near the shore quietly shows up.

The early steps are where a build is made easy or hard, so we take our time with them. Before we price anything we assess the lot: how it grades and drains, what the red soil and clay underneath are doing, and what permitting and servicing the site will need. PEI ground holds water, so we plan grading to carry it away from the house, and we set foundations below our frost depth so the freeze and thaw of an Island winter cannot heave them. Near the bay we pay particular attention to how the lot sits against the prevailing wind, placing the home and its entries where they are sheltered and take good light. Paired with insulation and sealing done properly for our climate, that orientation makes a home easier to heat through a long season and more comfortable to live in.

If you own a lot near Tyne Valley or you are still weighing one, we are happy to take a look and talk it through. Come out to the property or sit down with us at the Elmsdale shop, tell us what you are picturing, and we will give you an honest, itemised fixed quote with no pressure to go ahead. Before You Ask

Good to know.

Yes. Most of what we build in this area is on country acreage or lots near Malpeque Bay. We help you sort the well, the septic and the drainage early, and on bay-area sites we look at wind, sun and how best to place and shelter the house before any work begins.

Not at all. Whether you already own land around Tyne Valley or you are still looking, we are glad to walk a property with you and weigh it for drainage, sun, shelter and cost. It is worth getting that right before you commit to a site.

Homes near the water take wind and salt air, so we site them with care and choose durable exteriors that hold up over time. For our winters we insulate properly, frame and size roofs for the snow load, and detail the build to handle years of freeze and thaw.

Tyne Valley is right in our own corner of the Island, a short drive from our shop in Elmsdale. Being close by means we can get out to your lot easily for a first look and stay on top of the build once it is underway.

Yes. Our own crew runs the build, and we bring in trusted local trades we have worked with for years. Keeping that work in our part of the Island means people who know how we build and who stand behind what they do.
